I am glad to introduce Your Virtual Store, a Linux Magazine article published in issue #236. I wrote it as an introduction to the Opencart opensource e-commerce platform. Opencart is a PHP web package that allows to set up a web shop for cheap, as long as you have a server to host it. There are alternatives that are more popular, such as Prestashop, but Opencart just offers a lot of for the little effort it takes to set up. Opencart is what powers my current online store, La Gran Parafarmacia.
